Course Description

Microsoft® Office Excel 2007 – Level 1 teaches students how to work with worksheets and workbooks to analyze data using a variety of features to create, modify and format common business reports such as budgets, inventory reports, invoices, and charts. This course is designed for students who desire the skills necessary to create, edit, format, and print basic Microsoft Office Excel 2007 worksheets and manage and audit numerical reports.

Students who complete this course can be on their way to preparing for a Microsoft Certified Application Specialist exam. By completing the other levels available for this application students will have reviewed all of the exam objectives.

Course Prerequisites

This course is designed for students who are familiar with personal computers, using a keyboard and using a mouse. The course assumes that students have completed the Microsoft Windows Level 1 course or have equivalent Microsoft Windows knowledge and experience.

Course Objectives

After completing this course, you will be able to:

Æ  understand how Microsoft Office Excel handles numerical information for analysis or tracking purposes

Æ  identify and work with the screen, Screen Tips, the Ribbon, and the Quick Access toolbar;

Æ  create, edit, save, open, and close workbooks;

Æ  select cells for further action such as formatting, deleting, copying and pasting;

Æ  change the view mode for specific types of editing tasks;

Æ  create and edit simple and more complex formulas;

Æ  apply text and numeric formatting options;  

Æ  control the data flow using appropriate page breaks;

Æ  set headers and footers for a worksheet;

Æ  change margins, orientation, or layout for printing a worksheet;

Æ  preview and print worksheets or workbook; and

Æ  create, edit, and format simple charts.
